Does your place need a repaint?

Not sure if it is time yet? Here is a quick way to tell.

Look at the surface first. If the paint is sound but the walls look grey or green, the wall may just be dirty. A rinse with a hose can bring it back. You do not need a new coat yet.

If the paint flakes, bubbles or rubs off as chalk on your hand, that is different. The coat has failed. Water will not fix it. That wall needs prep work and fresh paint.

Check the sunny walls next. Colour that has gone flat and patchy on the north and west sides is sun damage. A fresh coat is the only real fix for that.

Then look at the trim, the doors and the window frames. These go first, because they take the most weather and the most hands.

How a job runs

Most people have not booked work like this before. Here is how ours runs.

First, you call us or send the form. We ask a few short things. What is the space? How big is it? How soon do you need it done?

Next, we come out and look. This visit is free. We check the walls up close. We look for damp, rot, and old coats that may not hold. We take notes and we measure up.

Then you get a price in writing. It lists what we will do, what we will use, and how long it will take. The price is fixed. It does not shift unless you ask us to add work.

Once you say yes, we agree a start date. We tell you who will be on site and when they plan to get there.

While we work, we cover floors and move what we can. We tidy up at the end of each day. You will not come home to a mess.

When we finish, we walk the job with you. If you spot a mark we missed, we fix it there and then. You sign off once you are happy, and not before.

What we need from you

We handle the work. There are just a few things we need from you.

We need a way in. That might be a key, a gate code, or someone home on the first day. Tell us which one works.

We need a tap and a power point. Most jobs use both. If either is hard to get to, let us know and we will bring our own.

We need room to park close by. Paint, tools and drop sheets are heavy. A long carry adds time to the job.

Inside jobs need clear walls. Please take down photos, mirrors and shelves. We move big things like beds and couches. Small items are best packed away by you.

If you have pets, tell us. We will keep gates shut and doors closed. Some pets do better at a friend's place for the day.

Last, tell us about any known faults. A leak, a soft board, or a patch that keeps coming back. We would rather hear it up front than find it half way through. For a longer list, read our guide on how to prepare your home.

Where we work

We work across Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and the coast. Our crews live here too, so we know the streets and the weather.

We plan each day around your suburb, not just the clock. Crews start near home and work out from there. That way we turn up when we say we will.

On bigger jobs we split the work into zones. We finish one side of the house before we start the next. You keep the use of the rest while we go.

Lead times shift with the season. Spring and early summer fill up first. Winter is often quicker, and inside work runs fine in the cold.

If you need the job done by a set date, say so early. A sale, a new lease, or a party all change how we plan. We will tell you straight if the date looks tight.

How to get a price

Getting a price from us is quick, and it costs you nothing.

Start with the form or a call. Tell us what you want done and where. A few photos help a lot. Shoot the whole wall, then take a close shot of any spot that looks worn.

Small jobs can often be priced from photos alone. Bigger jobs need a look in person. We will tell you which one yours is.

You do not need to be there for the whole visit. It does help if you can walk us through what you want at the start.

The price comes to you in writing. You can read it in your own time and check it line by line.

There is no fee for this and no push to book. If you want to think it over, take your time. If you would rather use a different crew, that is fine too.
