Coast Home Tip
more repaints in exposed coast zones
First, we check your home. Next, we pick the right paint. This makes the paint last. So, the finish stays fresh.
Also, salt and wind hurt homes. So we plan ahead to stop this. We wash the walls down before any coat goes on.
- We check and wash walls first
- We use tough paint for outside walls
- We pick paint for coast homes
- We treat rust before we prime
Next, we give you a clear plan before we start. So you know what we cover and what it costs.

Read guideWhat we look at on the first visit
The first visit is free, and it takes about half an hour.
We start with what is on the walls now. Old paint tells us a lot. If it is chalky, flaking or bubbled, we need to know why before we quote.
Then we look for damp. We check the base of walls, the sills, and any spot under a window. Soft timber and dark marks mean water is getting in. Paint will not fix that, so we flag it early.
We check the gutter line next. A blocked gutter spills water down the wall, and that is what strips the coat above the sill.
Sun matters too. The north and west walls take the most heat and fade first. They may need a tougher coat than the shaded sides.
Last we look at access. How high is it? Can we get a ladder in? Is there a fence, a slope or a tree in the way? That is what sets how long the job takes.
You do not need to tidy up before we come. We have seen it all, and we would rather see the place as it really is.
How soon can we start
We get asked this most. The honest answer is that it moves.
Spring and early summer are our busiest months. Most people want the outside done before the heat. If that is your plan, ask early.
Winter is often quicker to book. Inside work runs fine in the cold, and the crews have more room.
Rain moves outside jobs. If a wet week lands in the middle of your job, we pause and pick it back up. We do not paint over damp walls to keep to a date.
Got a hard date? Tell us at the quote. A sale, a new tenant or a party all change how we plan it. We will say straight away if the date looks tight.
Small jobs indoors can often slot in sooner. One room or one wall is easier to fit than a whole house.
Who turns up at your place
You get the same small crew each day. No new faces each morning.
One person is your contact from quote to hand over. If you have a question, you ask them, not a call centre.
We hold a NSW trade licence, number 492257C. We carry full cover as well. You can read more on our warranty and licence page.
We do not hand your job to a stranger. If we ever need extra hands for a big job, we tell you first and they work with our crew, not on their own.
Our crews live around here. That is why we know which walls take the sea wind and which streets are hard to park on.
Homes we work on
Most homes here fall into a few types. Each one needs a bit of care.
Timber board homes are common near the coast. Timber moves with the weather. It needs a coat that can bend and sound gaps between boards.
Brick homes often just need the trim done. If you want the brick itself painted, that is a bigger call, and it cannot be undone. Our guide on painting a brick house walks through it.
Rendered walls look smooth but crack in fine lines over time. Those cracks need filling first or they show straight through the new coat.
Fibro needs care. Sheets in older homes can hold asbestos, so they must never be sanded or cut. We check before we touch them.
Two storey homes need scaffold or tall ladders. That adds a day at each end.
Units and town homes often have shared walls and rules on colour. We can work with your strata on that.
What people ask us first
A few things come up on nearly every call.
Do you move the couch and beds? Yes. We move the big things and put them back. Small items are best packed by you.
Do you paint in winter? Inside, yes, all year. Outside we work around the rain.
Will you do just one room? Yes. Small jobs are welcome.
Do I need to be home? Only to let us in, and to walk the job at the end. The rest is up to you.
How long will it take? A room is often a day. A whole house outside is one to two weeks. We give you a real number at the quote, not a guess.
